Overview: Blues (Polyommatinae) are in the GOSSAMER-WING family (Lycaenida) They are very small and quick but Adults do not fly long distances. Some caterpillars have glands that secrete sugar, and are therfore “tended”  to and protected by ants. They are very cold tolerant and adults have been known to survive being burried a few inches in snow. General Habitat: Open areas, lawns, and fields.
