Limenetus

Wingspan: 3 inches

Overview: This Sub-family (Limenitidinae) is part of the Brush Footed Butterfly Family (Nymphalidae). While the adults occasionally feed on flowers, they prefer to feed on animal dung, rotting fruit, honey dew, and sap flows. General habitat: Open woods, meadows, fields, shrubby marshes, and riversides. The Viceroy butterfly mimics the toxic Monarch, and the Red Spotted Purple mimics the Pipevine Swallowtail.
